Quantitative research & software development

Study market behavior.
Build on evidence.

Lucid Sigma develops software for quantitative market research. We are investigating recurring market behavior and building tools to test ideas, examine assumptions, and assess reproducibility.

01 / The problem

A great backtest can still be wrong.

01A promising behavior appears

02The backtest looks convincing

03Capital meets reality

04The result fails

Our research examines these failure modes.

Why this matters

A backtest is the start.
Validation is the work.

Imagine finding a strategy that looks exceptional. You test it, believe it, and deploy real capital. Then it stops working.

Was it bad data? Hidden bias? Unrealistic assumptions? Changing market conditions? Or a result nobody else could reproduce?

Those questions guide Lucid Sigma’s research and software development.

02 / Research priorities

A method for examining the evidence.

01

Understand the data

Examine data sources, coverage, timestamps, and changes before interpreting a result.

02

Make assumptions explicit

Record the question, test rules, costs, and conditions behind a market hypothesis.

03

Challenge the backtest

Investigate bias, fragile assumptions, and results that may depend on a particular market regime.

04

Investigate repeatability

Ask whether a behavior persists across observations and can be reproduced independently.

03 / Our intended workflow

From a market question to a testable finding.

01

Ask

Start with a clear question, not a desired answer.

02

Test

Measure the behavior with trusted data and explicit rules.

03

Challenge

Look for bias, fragile assumptions, and conditions where the result fails.

04

Reproduce

Have an independent process recreate the result.

05

Use

Build on the finding only after the evidence holds up.

Focus beats breadth.

Validation beats vision.

Proof beats prediction.

04 / Research principles

Challenge the idea before depending on it.

Evidence before conviction.

A promising result is a question—not an answer.

Repeatable by design.

Someone else should be able to reach the same conclusion.

Failure is useful.

Knowing where an idea breaks is part of knowing what it means.

Built to keep learning.

The goal is a reliable way to test research again and again.

05 / Current focus

Investigating recurring intraday behavior in highly liquid U.S. markets.

Research is ongoing. We are still evaluating whether the behaviors under study provide a repeatable trading advantage.

Charts, indicators, and promising backtests are research observations. They do not by themselves establish a validated edge or future performance.

06 / Intended audience

For people who study markets through data and software.

Our development is directed toward systematic traders and quantitative research teams. Planned online access will depend on development and validation.
